Broderers City & Guilds Award 2012

Every year, the Broderers rewards outstanding City & Guilds learners for their achievements. Annie Rogers is 2012’s worthy winner of a City & Guilds Medal for Excellence in embroidery.

Top student Annie received her prize from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and the Worshipful Company of Broderers at Buckingham Palace in May. She was singled out for work produced during her Level 3 Machine Embroidery Diploma at Missenden Abbey.

It was the first time The Princess Royal had presented an award – part of the annual City & Guilds Prince Philip Medal ceremony – since she took over from her father, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, as President of the City & Guilds of London Institute in June 2011.

Describing the Royal encounter as a ‘once in a lifetime occasion,’ Annie said.

Master of the Broderers, Lt Col Gordon Birdwood, said,‘Judging the winner is always a difficult task as the craft of embroidery employs so many diverse skills. However, we are all delighted that Annie has won; she is incredibly talented.’
